Summer is the perfect time to grow your game!

TCYBA Summer Camps give young athletes the chance to improve their fundamentals, compete, build confidence and have fun in a positive environment.

Our camps are led by experienced coaches who have played, coached and helped develop athletes at several levels of the game:

Coach Zach Hamed— an NCCP-certified coach, former university player at the University of Victoria and Capilano University, current senior boys basketball coach and assistant coach at Capilano University.

Coach Lauren Tomlinson — a former Capilano University basketball player and Capilano graduate who brings valuable university-level playing experience to the court.

Coach David Counsell — an NCCP-certified coach and bringsdecades of coaching and executive experience through Basketball BC provincial programs, high-performance development pathways and TCYBA.

For 27 years, TCYBA has proudly supported young athletes and helped grow the game of basketball throughout the Tri-Cities community.

TCYBA is looking for female athletes to join a number of our teams in the Tri-Cities and New West in the following divisions:

With over two decades of experience, we have become a trusted name in youth basketball, providing opportunities for players from Kindergarten to grade 12. We proudly offer programs catering to a thriving community of over 2000 players.

At Tri City Basketball Club, we are committed to promoting the development of basketball fundamentals, sportsmanship, and physical fitness among our players. As a basketball club, we recognize the importance of providing a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters a love of the game and helps players reach their full potential.

U11 & U12 Girls Elite Tryout!

We’re excited to host a follow-up session for our U11 and U12 girls elite basketball groups at Kwayquitlam Middle School next Monday, June 8th!

U11: 5:00–6:00 PM

U12: 6:00–7:00 PM

This is a great opportunity for players to show their growth, compete at a high level, and continue pushing for a spot in the program. If you missed registration or were unable to attend the first tryout, this is your chance to get on the court, be evaluated, and compete for a spot in the program.

Fall/Winter 2026/27 Registration Information

Get ready for another exciting basketball season! Registration for the TCYBA Fall/Winter 2026/27 season officially opens in June and will take place in three registration phases.

Whether you're a returning player looking to continue your basketball journey or a new player eager to join our league, we can't wait to welcome you to the court this season!

Registration Phases

Phase 1: June 1 – June 7, 2026

Returning players from the Fall/Winter 2025-26 season who wish to remain with their same team from Fall/ Winter 2025-26 may register during this period.

Phase 2: June 8 – June 14, 2026

Returning players from the Fall/Winter 2025-26 and Spring 2026 seasons may register for any team that has available space.

Phase 3: June 15, 2026 – September 2026

Registration opens to all new players, as well as any returning players who have not yet registered.

Congratulations to our U12 girls elite on winning the Don Franklin memorial tournament this past weekend. Our girls had the opportunity to travel to Victoria and compete winning all of there games. Great work girls! 🏀

TriCity Alum and Executive Director claim Bronze with Capilano Blues

The Capilano Blues men’s basketball team took home a bronze medal in PacWest competition and two TriCity Youth Basketball connections were part of that achievement.

Zach Hamed, current board member, Elite Coordinator and coach was involved as a player and Ross Tomlinson, TCYBA Executive Director, was assistant coach to the team.

Congratulations to Zach and Ross, both valuable members of TriCity Youth Basketball Association, demonstrating the potential for our player and coaching members to be prepared to enjoy success after their TCYBA experience.

Their work with the club helps to deliver well organized, safe, healthy, and accessible basketball experiences for Tri City youth provided by dedicated and experienced personnel.

Spring 2026 Registration is OPEN
Tri-City Youth Basketball (TCYBA) Development League runs March 30 – June 8, 2026 with Friday night games for Grades 3–12.

Practices are held at schools across the community, and families can choose teams based on location, day, and time during registration.

Full details on divisions, fees, uniforms, and policies are on our website. New players should register in the division matching the higher grade listed for their level.

We’re also introducing a new Grade 6–7–8 Girls Development division and continuing our Grade 8 Competitive program for players preparing for high school basketball.

New to basketball? Looking to enhance your skills?

Tri-City Youth Basketball Association is pleased to announce the return of its extremely popular Skill Development Academy for Winter 2026.

Coaches instructing our sessions have experience at the elite youth and high school level.

These sessions are for players who want to develop and enhance their individual ability, focusing on:

Footwork

Shot Preparation

Shooting Mechanics

Ball Handling

Passing

Decision Making

Attacking the Basket & Finishing

Interested players, especially those at the grade 4/5 level, do not need to have a great deal of experience to take part. The most important factor when participating in the Academy program is to simply be dedicated to improvement and being committed to attending the scheduled sessions.

As these sessions focus on individual skill development, co-ed sessions are appropriate for both girls and boys to attend.

Registration is now open. These sessions have limited space so don't delay.

Girls Only Basketball Academy at Pinetree Community Centre

Calling all young female athletes in grades 5 to 8! Take your game to the next level with our Girls Only Basketball Academy, held Sundays from 1:00 – 2:45 PM at Pinetree Community Centre in Coquitlam.

Led by Lauren Tomlinson—an elite team coach and standout player for Capilano University Women’s Basketball—this program is a unique opportunity to train with an experienced university-level athlete and mentor who knows what it takes to excel on and off the court.

Saturday Skill Development Academies at Moody Middle

Get ready to elevate your game this fall with the Tri-City Youth Basketball Association Skill Academies! Our upcoming program runs Saturdays from October 18 to December 6, offering players a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and compete under the guidance of an internationally acclaimed coach.

Program Schedule

• Grades 6–8: boys & girls: 11:15 AM – 1:15 PM

Leading the Academy is Coach Luka Vukalovic, a globally seasoned basketball professional with over 25 years of coaching experience across Europe, Asia, and North America. Luka has developed elite youth and varsity talent, guiding teams to championship success in Serbia, China, Portugal, and Canada.

His impressive résumé includes:

• Assistant coaching roles with Capilano University and University of the Fraser Valley
• Head Coach of the NBA Yao Ming Basketball Club in Beijing

Luka’s teaching philosophy blends tactical precision, motivational leadership, and a passion for player development. His athletes have gone on to compete at NCAA and professional levels. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, a FIBA coaching license, and multiple certifications in safe sport ensuring a positive, high-quality experience for every participant.
